CSI Case File 29

Hello everyone. I have a couple of layouts to share. The first is for this week's case file at CSI. The color scheme this week is just beautiful:

I will admit, though, that the pink threw me a bit. Scrapping boy layouts with pink is so tricky. I decided to use the pink as a accent color and keep the amount small. Here's my page:
I had so much fun with this page. When I was at my LSS a few weeks ago, I found some adorable polka dotted felt on clearance. I am absolutely loving it and hope they still have some when I make it back over that way.

My next layout is a just-for-the-fun-of-it page:
Yup, that's wood grain paper... again. I found that in Hobby Lobby the other day and bought it in several colors. I absolutely love that paper and I'm sure I'll use it way too much. :)

Layouts to Share

Hello everyone. I have a few layouts to share. This first one is for CSI case file #27 and also for Scrapfit's Warm Up # 29.  Here's my layout:
I had a ball with this layout. I adored the color scheme from this week's case file and was intrigued by the idea of using a long title. I tend to do short, one or two word titles, so this was different for me. It's titled "Why am I losing teeth? I'm not old!". Journaling reads: "When you started losing teeth you thought you'd need to get false ones like "an old guy". You, my dear, are a mess!"

This next layout was from last week's CSI case file # 26. I struggled with the color scheme but wound up happy with the way it turned out:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

July Sketch it Out

Happy fourth, everyone! I just wanted to quickly share my take on the July Sketch it Out challenge from Club CK.  Here's the sketch:
I loved this sketch. As has been my habit lately, I only used one photo. For some reason I am recently obsessed with one photo layouts. I have no idea why. I changed the other photo spots into blocks of pp and fabric. Here's my layout:
I love that picture of my little guy. :) He had a ball dressing up for old timey photos and flirting with the young photographer that day. lol. Thanks for stopping by!

Another Coptic Stitched Journal...

If you were looking for the red, white, and blue blog hop click here.

I finished another coptic stitched journal tonight. I think I may be getting a wee bit obsessed with coptic stitching. This time I covered the binding with felt so the stitches don't show on the sides. Here's the cover:

I used a brown paper bag for parts of the journal. I crinkled it and then smoothed it back out before attaching it to the covers. The covers are made by tearing the cardboard backing off a stack of patterned paper and covering with the bag, paper scraps, and some felt. Here are some shots of the inside:

I wanted this journal to have tons and tons of little pockets for stashing junk. For some reason I seem to accumulate a lot of junk that requires stashing.  Thanks for looking!

Red, White, and Blue Blog Hop

Welcome hoppers! :) You should have arrived here from Jordan's blog. If not, you might want to go back to the beginning at Amanda's blog.  For this hop, we all created a new project with a red, white, and blue theme. I did not go with a patriotic theme, but I did go red, white, and blue. Here's my project:
I created a coptic stitched notebook. If you've never done coptic stitching, it's really not that difficult to get the hang of. I learned by watching a youtube video and am now hooked. I started out with these cheap-o folders from the Dollar Tree:
I trimmed them down to size, covered them with pretty paper, inserted some printer paper to make my signatures, and stitched away. The folders were actually quite cute to be cheapies and I probably could have used them without covering them..... but that would just make entirely too much sense. lol

Thanks for stopping by for the hop! Your next stop will be Lorri's blog. Here's the order of the hop in case you get lost:

Stop by again some time! :)

Child's Play Challenge Entry

I decided to play along over at Child's Play. One of the June Challenges was to do a page based on the theme "Where the Wild Things Are". That has always been a favorite read aloud at our house. I had this picture of my boy in the river and decided it fit the theme, since he goes completely nuts in the water. Here's my layout:

ScrapFit Polaroid Challenge and CSI Case File 24

I decided to dive in and complete my first challenge at ScrapFit. The challenge was to use Polaroid photos. I haven't seen my Polaroid camera in, oh, say, 20 years or so. Thus I decided to make my own Polaroid-ish photos. Here's my layout:

I have been seeing layouts lately with brick or chicken wire designs. I'm thinking they're stamps or masks maybe. I love the look and decided to doodle my brick/rock/whatever they are designs in the corners (that's the scientific name, of course). I enjoyed this challenge!

My next layout is for the CSI challenge. I am finding myself quickly getting addicted to these challenges. Here's my layout:
Did you ever finish a layout and decide that you don't know if you love it or hate it? That's this poor little layout for me. I cannot for the life of me decide if it's super cute and abstract-ish or super weird and pitiful-ish. I got tired of debating about it and just uploaded the rotten thing already. lol. The half star thing is hand drawn and painted, by the way. I learned how to do that in Geometry class approximately 127 years ago. Unfortunately, it's the only knowledge I retained from that class.
